Sri Lanka ... Advanced Level Teaching Project, Kathiraveli, Batticaloa,

Sri Lanka  ... Advanced Level Teaching Project

This grant supports a remote Sri Lankan village with limited educational opportunities. The results of the 2023 student batch have been remarkable in the context that the village, Kathiraveli, had no entrants to universities for the 5 years prior to the 2022 batch. In 2023, 87% of the students passed, with 42% (13 of 31 students) entering university. This is excellent news and cause for celebration.

The National College of Education is yet to inform of their intake for Teacher Training Diplomas, but we are hopeful that we also see positive outcomes for our students. The parents of this region are very grateful for the support that the students are receiving. It has provided a valuable stepping-stone for their future.

The project has provided uplift for the village and is building hope for the youth of the region and their families.  The high pass rate is not only increasing the number of students that are being accepted to university, but it is also improving employment opportunities for those that do not wish to pursue further education.

The attached photographs show the parents and the school honouring the students who performed well in their examinations.
